CFN News First Connections Needs Your HelpFirst Connections was notified recently that their funding is being cut about 20% (from $134,000 to about $107,000) due to the downturn in the economy. These cuts are “9C” cuts, meaning that they come directly from the governor and there is no recourse through the legislature. First Connections provides a variety of services including playgroups, home services, seminars and support groups. When asked how people who value the services could help, Ellen Weisstein of First Connections suggested that a letter of support to the newspaper would be greatly appreciated. Halloween Party Recap and ThanksDozens of families attended this year’s Halloween Party on October 18th at West Concord Union Church. Everyone had fun playing games, making crafts and joining in the costume parade. Tom and Debbie Foote of Rhythm Kids and ABC Music Together had children joining in lively drum music while parents danced along. After the event was over, we were thrilled to learn that our charity raffle for Open Table had raised nearly $250 in money and food donations. We were so grateful to have had such enthusiastic and hard-working member volunteers: Heather Martino, Carrie Bjerke, Anita Caulfield, Denee Dinardo, Jennie Garofalo, Elizabeth Hall, Bonnie Hoover, Kristen Miller, Judy Rosenbaum, Tim Seston, Samantha St. Laurent, Shanti Steckel Cooper, Amelia Stubblebine, Alisha Telci, Lora Venesy and Carolyn Wilkins. We’ll raise a toast to you at the next mom’s night out. We also had help from Girl Scout Troop #2703 and staff from the Thoreau Club and Jellybean Junction/The Learning Experience. Thanks to all!
