Habitat for Humanity - North Central Massachusetts Branch

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a non- profit ecumenical housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts (NCM) is headquartered at the Massachusetts Innovation Center Campus, One Oak Hill Road, Fitchburg, MA 01420. Habitat NCM has built and/or renovated 12 homes that house 33 children and their families. There are Local Project Committees at work in Acton, Ashburnham, and Townsend to bring Habitat homes to their towns. 

 

Network for Women's Lives

The Network for Women's Lives is a volunteer organization dedicated to ending domestic violence and promoting healthy relationships. Our goal is prevention; our vehicle is education.  Network for Women's Lives: Prevention through Education, Safety and Respect for All.  The Network for Women's Lives serves the communities of Acton, Bedford, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Lexington, Lincoln, Maynard and Stow.

 

Open Table

Open Table was founded in 1989 to provide weekly nutritious meals and a food pantry to anyone who wanted them – no questions asked.  Our purpose is to address the hunger that exists in our area and to do this in a manner that respects the privacy and dignity of our guests and provides them with a few moments of respite from their daily challenges.  The Open Table is a way to open arms and hearts in the community, share success and gifts, practice values that enhance common humanity and to give and receive kindness. 

 

Freecycle

The Freecycle Network™ individuals and non-profits an electronic forum to "recycle" unwanted items.  It is made up of many individual groups across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer. Membership is free.
