Lauren and her husband, Michael moved to Concord in 2017 with their two children, Adrianna (5 yrs) and Lucas (3 yrs). Lauren taught math for nine years in NY and MA before deciding to leave teaching for a while to stay home with her children. She has been involved with CFN for the past year and this is her first year on the board as co-chair. She’s looking forward to organizing events that will bring members together and create memoires for our children.
Laura lives in Concord with her husband Sam and their two young sons. Since moving from Cambridge in the spring of 2015, they have enjoyed so much about Concord – from walks to Marshall Farm, swimming at White Pond, and frequent trips to Reasons to be Cheerful. Having grown up in New Hampshire, she appreciates being able to raise her family in an area with such easy access to nature. She is thankful for the community that CFN has created and the new friendships it has fostered for her family. In addition to keeping up with her busy boys, Laura works in professional development for a healthcare consulting firm.
First Connections Liaison
Lauren and her family moved from the North End to Concord in 2014 so there could be more room to run around, which they now spend plenty of time doing! Lauren is a licensed clinical psychologist and owns Concord Therapy LLC, providing counseling to women and their partners on fertility and family planning, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum health, and work-life balance. Lauren is passionate about women’s health and has presented at National conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of perinatal mental health, gender identity, countertransference, and suicide prevention. Lauren loves to be involved in community building and is energized by networking with other moms and families who have ideas to share or are in need of support. CFN has been essential in helping her explore new surroundings and meet other like-minded individuals!
Board meetings and overall functions
Katie and her husband Pete moved to Concord back in 2007. Pete, a Carlisle native and CCHS grad, had sold Katie on the area—the great town centers, the conservation land and farms, the amazing public schools, and not to mention the charm of it all. Katie got involved in CFN several years ago when she left her job in financial technology to stay home with her kids (Caroline, 6, Peter, 4, and Mary, 1). She was the Co-Chair for the past 2 years and now is excited to be in charge of welcoming new members to CFN as they join.
Board Member at Large
Amanda and her husband Tom have been living in Concord since 2013. Both from surrounding towns, they knew that this was the perfect place for them to live and raise a family. Their son Tommy was born in 2014 and two years later, his sister Teagan joined the Matthews clan. Amanda teaches high school Spanish at Acton-Boxborough and has recently decided to take some time off to stay at home with the kids. Amanda joined CFNright after Tommy was born to meet other young families in town and has really enjoyed the community feel of the network. Amanda and her family are always walking around town - they are regulars at Main Street on the weekends for breakfast sandwiches - and enjoy spending time outdoors at all the area playgrounds. When she's not chasing Tommy and Teagan around, Amanda also enjoys cooking for her family, gardening and DIY projects.
Moms' Night In Coordinator
I am the Mom's Night In Coordinator for CFN this year. It's a fitting role for me, as I really enjoy gathering women together and talking over food and drinks. I feel it's such a great way to get to know people. My family and I are new to Concord; we moved here last summer (June 2017) from Jamaica Plain so that we could decrease my husband's commute to work and have our children in a great school system. My husband, Jerry, and I have three children: Jonah (3rd grade), Alex (1st grade), and Ellie (2 years in January). I am home now with children, but once upon a time I was an English teacher, and perhaps at some point in time, I'll go back to teaching. I enjoy photography, running, barre, gardening, and listening to podcasts and audible books (wish I had time to read!). I dream of traveling without a stroller and diaper bag, my picky eaters actually trying and enjoying the food I make, sleeping consistently through the night, and "sleeping-in" on a weekend.
Moms' Night Out Coordinator
Jesse, her husband Matus and daughter Stella moved to Concord in May of 2015. Shortly after the move, Max joined the family. While initially nervous about moving out of Cambridge, they have loved taking advantage of all that Concord has to offer. Stella and Max both attend Little Sprouts Daycare three days a week while Jesse is working as a primary-care doctor and Geriatrician in Boston. The rest of the week they are involved in many of the activities that CFN organizes. In addition, they love picking fresh veggies at Barrett’s Mill Farm, vising the animals at Drumlin Farm, swimming at Walden Pond, and exploring the parks, playgrounds and restaurants around Concord. Jesse is excited to be organizing the MNO events and is looking forward to meeting other Concord area Moms.
Dad & Me Coordinator
Benjamin has lived in Concord since 2014 with his wife Lauren, and son Max (born 2015). He is a native of the area, having grown up one town over in Acton. Benjamin joined CFN with his family to meet other families and participate in fun events year round. He is an attorney in the litigation department of D'Ambrosio Brown LLP in Boston. Benjamin is frequently spotted with Lauren and Max at Rideout Playground in West Concord and standing in line for ice cream at Reasons to Be Cheerful.
